Columbia County EMA has three full time employees and is the principle emergency management coordinating entity for thirty-three municipalities.

Columbia County is vulnerable to a variety of natural and man caused emergencies and disasters, with flash flooding and Susquehanna River flooding at the top of the list. Since 2004 Columbia County has been included in three Presidential Disaster Declarations resulting in excess of 75 million dollars in property damage.

Columbia County is a risk county of the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station and a member of the East Central PA Counter-Terrorism Task Force. With 49 Tier II reporting facilities, Interstate 80 and the Canadian Pacific Railroad dissecting the county we are no stranger to hazardous materials incidents.

Columbia County EMA’s motto is “Informed people make better decisions” so community outreach is the foundation of our emergency management program.
